SHIRLEY COLLINS ~ The Bonny Cuckoo WING 1003 vinyl EP

Fledg’ling Records are delighted to continue our ongoing series of Shirley Collins’ early recordings on 7” vinyl EP with the release of some previously unreleased early recordings.

These four spectral, magical performances were recorded by Alan Lomax in London on 20th October 1957. Shirley sings two songs – Bonny Cuckoo and Bonny Labouring Boy – unaccompanied and with her own banjo accompanied.

These very rare recordings have been carefully re-mastered from the only known surviving acetate, packaged in a front-laminated, flipback sleeve, and with a beautifully illustrated inner bag showing rare Shirley Collins photographs and ephemera.
